Greetings from Columbus!
Columbus is a growing metropolis with a population of more than 1.7 million, a moderate climate, and an interesting history. Ohio State's Columbus campus is situated—as it
has been since 1870—about two miles north of downtown. Running along the east side of campus is High Street, one of Columbus's oldest roads and host to many of the shops and restaurants that serve the daily needs of the university community.
A national center for research and development, Columbus has strong ties to government, business, and education. How does this benefit you? The relationship between the Columbus community and the university means great research, internship, and employment opportunities for Ohio State students. Abercrombie & Fitch, Battelle, Nationwide Insurance, Limited Brands, and Wendy's International are just a few of the companies headquartered in Columbus.
Eat, shop, experience
In Columbus, you'll find what you would expect from a major metropolitan area: lively arts and music scenes, dance and music companies, theaters and museums, a great park system, historic neighborhoods, major league sports teams (soccer and hockey), and a diverse range of shopping and dining venues.
Like to shop? You're in the right place. Columbus offers unique neighborhood shopping and great malls, like:
- Easton Town Center
- Lennox Town Center (just west of campus—includes Target, Barnes & Noble, Old Navy, World Market, AMC Theater, Don Pablos, Cup O' Joe, and more)
- The Mall at Tuttle Crossing
- Polaris Fashion Place
- The Shops on Lane Avenue (includes Whole Foods, Ann Taylor Loft, Baja Fresh, Pier One, and more)
